Our Dallas gynecomastia surgeon, Dr. Morales, can perform liposuction ("lipoplasty") to remove excess fat tissue from the chest area. Using a long metal rod (cannula) that is attached to a suction device, stubborn fatty deposits are eliminated. Incisions are commonly made in the axilla (armpit) or midline chest, which allow for minimal scarring post-surgery. The areola (nipple) diameter is reduced and the skin is tightened to produce an overall improvement of the area.
Patients who have excessively fibrous and dense tissue may require excision along with liposuction. Dr. Morales will make incisions partially around the areola and remove the stubborn tissue. Based on each patient's anatomy, a personalized treatment plan will be created during a consultation.
In addition to offering liposuction as gynecomastia treatment, Dr. Morales may perform this body contouring procedure on such areas as the neck, abdomen, and lower back. Those who are in relatively good shape and are having difficulty getting rid of localized pockets of fat may be ideal candidates.
